You can use only Japanese Yen in Japan. Don't forget to exchange.

There may be difficulties using your country-issued cards to obtain cash from automatic cash dispensers in Japan, so you should consult your card-issuing company before travelling.

If your card has no problem, you can use it in many shops and restaurants. Most of them have signs(logos) in front them. But don't think credit card is almighty in Japan. Shops and restaurants you cannot use credit card still exist. Don't forget coin and bill.

You can exchange U.S.$ to Yen in almost all bank in Japan.

But sorry, I don't know how many kind of foreign mony can exchange to Yen in ordinal bank. (I will check and update soon.)
